COMEDY NIGHT. Long Whatton Community Centre hosts the sell out stand-up comedy night “Whatton Laughs”on Friday, February 24 at 7.30pm.

As part of the 2023 Leicester Comedy Festival we welcome some of the finest stand-ups on the scene to Long Whatton for your laughing pleasure! Featuring the most excellent and downright funny comedy delights of Tony Cowards, Aaron Twitchen, Sikisa it is all held together by your host and MC Adele Cliff! Tony Cowards is a rapidfire gag merchant with an arsenal full of one-liners, for laughs-perminute he’s a tough act to beat! Aaron Twitchen is seriously talented. Hilarious, warm, energetic and capable of busting some awesome moves, Twitchen is a Quadruple Threat, the kind of new act that should have talent scouts excited and other comedians feeling nervous.

FOODBANK. Residents in Diseworth are invited to continue supporting the food bank based in Shepshed, donations to which are still much appreciate­d. A collecting box is available in the porch at St Michael and All Angels parish church in Diseworth for donations of food and toiletries. The porch is open and accessible at all times and the collecting box is emptied and taken to Shepshed every Monday.

Financial donations can be made through the Shepshed website at www. shepshedfo­odbank.co.uk. with them giving the food bank organisers the flexibilit­y in any given week items that may be specifical­ly required…

The Food Bank relies entirely on donations of food and money, and it helps to feed on average 180 people a month. It is a registered charity and is not affiliated to any church, political group or organisati­on.

HERITAGE CENTRE. Diseworth Heritage Centre has received a donation of £43.50 from the Long Whatton Knit and Natter group after they held a Christmas event to sell their knitted items.

QUIZ NIGHT. A Quiz Night is planned at Diseworth Village Hall on Saturday this weekend, February 25. Doors will open at 7pm, and the event starts at 7.30pm. Entry fee per table is £15 with a maximum of six people per team.
