LOUGHBOROUGH FC 0 DESFORD AND CATERPILLAR RES 0 Leicestershire Senior League Division Two

A 0-0 draw on the face of it looks a respectable result against fourth placed Desford and Caterpillar although defences were generally in control The Luffs might just have pinched this one.

Desford began well forcing the Loughborough defence back but they couldn’t break down a determined defensive line-up.The Loughborough side pursued a passing game and it forced the visitors back but again defences were in control. The Luffs had to make an early change as Ellis Pole limped off and was replaced by Connor McCormack .

Desford’s James Lewis let fly from distance but it went high and wide but The Luffs put together a passing move with Dylan Henderson laying off for Owen Clarke but his shot went past the post.

Desford won a couple of free kicks but Tolu Abass was commanding at the back for Loughborough. As the game drifted to a predictable 0-0 half time scoreline Loughborough’s Connor McCormack popped up in the Desford penalty area and blinded the ball over the bar from just two yards out.

Desford began the second half the better team but it didn’t last, Scott Machin shot just over the bar and Anthony George beat his man but couldn’t beat the Loughborough keeper, The Luffs had their chances to win this game in the second half, a free kick was deflected wide and a Tolu Abass header from a corner was cleared off the line.

The Luffs ran out of attacking steam but Desford could not cash in despite some hairy moments for the Loughborough side with one cleared off the line in a goalmouth scramble in the dying minutes.

The Luffs are home again on Saturday v Anstey Nomads with a 2pm kick off.
