OAKS GARDEN CLUB. The first meeting of this year is Thursday March 2 at 7.30 pm in the Oaks Storer Hall. For further informatio­n contact the Secretary Margaret Metcalfe 01530 838741.

OAKS WARM WELCOME HUB. Representa­tives from the Bardon Hill Police Beat Team will be attending the Oaks Warm Welcome Hub in March at the Oaks Storer Hall, Oaks Road, LE12 9YD. What3words - prickly. elevated.appealing. PCSO Aimee Carney and colleagues will be visiting on Tuesday March 7 and PCSO Gemma Sweeting and colleagues will be attending on Tuesday March 28.

Please pop along and have a chat with them for the latest crime prevention advice and leaflets. Free tea, coffee, squash and biscuits will be served between 2pm and 4pm. Children are welcome and welll behaved dogs on leads. We also have an excellent selection of pre-loved books for all ages and DVD’s too and jigsaws. Monetary donations for these goes towards the upkeep of the Oaks Storer Hall.

This is the last session of the Oaks Warm Welcome Hub for this year. Another project is being planned for the Autumn months with a utility company for everyone in the Parish to attend whatever their age.

DAFFODILL TEA. The Oaks Social Committee have organised aother Daffodil Tea for your enjoyment. They look forward to welcoming you to the Oaks Storer Hall, LE12 9YD on Saturday March 18 from 2pm to 4pm.

A delicous afternoon tea of sandwiches­s and cakes awaits you with copious amounts of tea, coffee or squash. Children are very welcome too. There is also a raffle with a wide range of prizes and tickets are £1 each. We have ample disabled parking plus off road parking should the car park be full. Although we make no charge for the afternoon tea, we do appreciate donations as this is a fundraisin­g event towards the upkeep of St.James’ the Greater Church and Churchyard.

Please feel free to wander round the Churchyard which is an area of peace and quiet contemplat­ion to admire the lovely golden

Daffodils along with the other Spring flowers. There is also the opportunit­y to view the Commonweal­th War Grave in the old Churchyard. A CWGC plaque was finally erected last year to commemorat­e this. OAKS SPRING FAIR 2023. The Oaks Spring Fair is being held again on Bank Holiday Monday May 29 from 10am till 4pm, Oaks Road, Oaks in Charnwood, Leics LE12 9YD. Admission is £5 per person, under 12’s are free. Free car parking in the adjacent field and free disabled parking in the Oaks Spring Fair field.

There is fun for for all the family with Live Music and Entertainm­ent, Vintage Cars and Machinery, Craft Stalls, BBQ, refreshmen­ts of all kinds in the Oaks Storer Hall and food stalls on the field. There are ample toilets including disabled in the Oaks Storer Hall and mobile toilets in the Oaks Spring Fair field. St. James’ the Greater Church will be open, with volunteers on hand to assist with you with any enquires regarding the Oaks World War Memorials and the Commonweal­th War Grave in the old Churchyard.

Proceeds from the Oaks Spring Fair are for the upkeep of St. James’ the Greater Church and Churchyard.
