Victory for Sileby Town, while Rothley Imperial win Division Two derby clash
IN the Everards Brewery Premier Division, a Stan Logan hat-trick, accompanied by a Szymon Donnerstag strike, helped give Sileby Town a 4-1 win at home to Highfield Rangers to move them up into the top six.
Meanwhile, after a shake-up of the fixture lists, the quarter-finals of the President’s Trophy got underway. Ashby Ivanhoe Knights welcomed Barrow Town Reserves to the NFU Ground, Knights dominating from start to finish and winning 6-1, Haydn Brown scoring a hat-trick, Josh Anderson a brace and Nick Sewell rounding off the scoring.
In Everards Brewery Division One, Ingles Reserves moved back into third spot of the in-running table after winning a topsy-turvy game at Holwell Sports Reserves 5-3, while in Division Two, whilst Hinckley LRFC Reserves remain well clear at the top, the race for the runners-up spot is looking more open after Lutterworth Town Reserves completed the second part of their double away at Sutton Bonington on Saturday, Jake Syrett scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win. Sutton remain three points behind Leicester Atletico in second and now have just one game in hand, whilst Lutterworth are now a point behind Sutton, but have played the same number of games as Atletico.
The two other fixtures both concerned teams in the bottom half of the table, namely a local derby and a bottom-of-the-table clash. The local derby came at Rothley, where the hosts sent their visitors back across the Soar empty-handed, Callum Johnston (2) and Benjamin Hetterley the scorers in Imperial’s 3-0 win at home to Sileby Town Reserves, all of the goals coming before the break. The bottom-of-thetable clash saw Loughborough host Anstey Nomads Reserves, the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw at the Drome, Luffs remaining four points behind the Nomads, though neither side have to worry about relegation now after the resignation of St Andrews Reserves was confirmed and their record expunged- though that also means that the Luffs’ only League win of the season disappears into the ether as well.
