Quickfire double sees Shepshed slip to defeat

-

SHEPSHED Dynamo’s inconsistent form in recent weeks continued after an away win last week they were defeated 3-0 at home to Corby Town at The Dovecote Stadium in the Pitching in Northern Premier League Midland Division.

For the first 10 minutes Shepshed looked promising with Zayn Hakeem firing wide on two minutes.

But werw constantly broken down Daniel Gordon was a threat with his long throw and on eight minutes he picked up the loose ball from his throw cut to the by line forcing Ganley into a save.

Tsagium Florian then hit the side netting on 10 minutes.

Corby hit Shepshed hard within a minute. Dynamo failed to clear the danger with Shaqille O’Neill Brooks clearing off the line Jordan O’Brien smashed the rebound passed Ganley to give The Steelman the lead. A minute later Corby played a ball over the top, O’Brien moved through Shepshed’s defence grounded Ganley and doubled Corby’s lead.

Corby came again with Ganley advancing out to Florian on 25 minutes and a minute later the visitors thought they had made it three. Gordon’s long throw was half cleared, Michael Jackson’s volley scrambled into the box and fell to the feet of Florian who put the ball in the back of the net but was deemed offside.

Shepshed had their best chance and move of the half Edwards-John and Leo Farruch combined well to put John King one on one with Bukowski who did well to push King too wide of the goal to bring Dynamo back in to the game.

Corby went into the break with a deserved lead but it seemed a game that if Shepshed were to score next then it would still be an open game.

Dynamo had the first chance of the second half with Toby Ritzema firing over on 48 minutes and Corby responded with O’Brien firing over two minutes later.

Dynamo continued to knock on the door without any real effect Furroch and Hakeem corners both cleared, then Edwards-John flashing across the box on 73 minutes.

Shaun Ruzvidzo last week’s scorer off the bench fired wide on 76 minutes and his shot deflected wide on 83 minutes.

Dynamo’s best chance of the game came a minute from time Jake Betts header hitting the crossbar and Bukowski scrambling the rebound into his body.

Despite deserving the victory Corby were never three goals the better but substitute Hilton Arthur scored the goal of the game in the depths of injury time.

It was always going to be a tough afternoon for Shepshed but fine margins, two quick goals and despite slight promise ineffective going forward means although still in 10th place with games against the bottom two coming up there’s no progression up the table for at least one week.

But with these games in mind Shepshed need to look for maximum points with the visit of Daventry Town to The Dovecote Stadium next Saturday.
