Shepshed win honours clubman Steve Andrews
SHEPSHED DYNAMO 3 DAVENTRY TOWN 0 Northern Premier League Midland Division
THE Dovecote Stadium had a different atmosphere on Saturday afternoon, the normal vibrant surrounding was solemn and silent before kick off.
The devastating news of losing a true clubman in Steve Andrews fell hard to the club throughout the week and before the start of the game and an impeccable minutes silence acknowledged before the game showed true respect.
Onto the game with Daventry decimated with the loss of management and players due to financially not being able to sustain themselves at step four an easy result should have been expected but it is never a given result.
Shepshed started on the front foot with Kairo Edwards-John firing into Iystin Cerga on two minutes.
Dynamo continued to look the better side with a great combination from Toby Ritzema and Leo Farruch,
Kairo’s shot was saved and the rebound was blocked on the line, then Edwards-John then fired into Cerga on 19 minutes.
The game flattened out and Daventry came more into the game without really threatening Shepshed.
The game was sparse of chances but with five minutes remaining in the half Leo Farruch was brought down by Mikun Adenjii and the referee pointed to the spot. Cam Moore stepped up to give Shepshed the lead at the break.
Dynamo continued in the ascendancy in the second half and got their deserved goal on 55 minutes a well executed free kick from Farruch was met by the head of Jordan Wakeling.
Dynamo trebled their lead on 62 minutes when Toby Ritzema fed Zayn Hakeem to fire home.
A poignant day for everyone involved at Shepshed Dynamo and as a true family it was comforting to come away and respect a clubman with all three points.
Shepshed remain in 10th place and are at home again next Saturday with the visit of Yaxley.
