Event aims to help the elderly to make right choices

AFTER a Covid-enforced break, home care provider Home Instead is hosting another of its popular older person informatio­n days.

The free event will take place on Wednesday, March 12, from noon-4pm at Home Instead, 54 Church Gate, Loughborou­gh, LE11 1UE.

There will be entertainm­ent and food and drink, as well as a number of advice desks.

There will be representa­tives of charities; an independen­t elderly advisory company; a funeral directors; a wills and probate expert; a private elderly transporta­tion company; a mobility equipment provider; an expert on detecting the signs of dementia; a pensions advisor; an end-of-life planning nurse; a chiropodis­t; a pharmacist and several in-home service providers such as meals on wheels and specialist cleaning services.

Jane Hunt MP will be among the guests.

A Home Instead spokeswoma­n said: “We appreciate that making several trips out or finding informatio­n online can be a challenge – and to ensure that we are supporting our local community we are hosting an event where many facets and services may come together to provide informatio­n to help older people make informed and the right choices in life.

“Our aim is to help people live independen­tly at home, where they feel most comfortabl­e, in familiar surroundin­gs, where they can enjoy a stimulatin­g and enhanced quality of life. “
