A busy few months in store at the Town Hall
JUST a few weeks after its muchanticipated reopening following the fire that engulfed HSBC and spread ‘plumes of smoke’ over the town, Loughborough Town Hall is back and thriving.
The Grade-II listed venue was closed for just over two weeks whilst repair and cleaning works were underway, but since its reopening back on April 6, it is now back at full strength. So, with that in mind, let’s see what is in store for Loughborough locals and luvvies alike over the coming months.
What? MANIA: The ABBA Tribute
Anyone who loves ABBA will undoubtedly have heard of the Voyage tour, where holograms of the band whisk you off to their heyday. Unfortunately it’s out of the price range for many. MANIA, coming straight from London’s West End, are considered one of the best and most sympathetic live tributes to the 1974 Eurovision winners, available for a fraction of the price of their avatars.

What? Anything for Love - The Meat Loaf story
Producer and director Steve Steinman once appeared on Stars in their Eyes 28 years ago as Meat Loaf. That one night prompted him to create a musical tribute to legendary composer-singer partnership of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf. This performance brings a ten-piece band guaranteed to ably back up the belting hits of Anything for Love, Dead Ringer for Love and more. When? Friday, May 26 at 7.30pm How much? Tickets are priced at £33, but as with the ABBA-related show, there aren’t too many left so you must act fast.
What? The Searchers - Thank You Tour
For fans who remember Merseybeat group The Searchers and the ‘British Invasion’ of the 1960s, back when washboards, harmonicas and jugs formed the soundtrack of the charts. The band said goodbye to their touring years back in 2018, but due to popular demand decided to return for one more tour in Spring 2023 as a thank you to their dedicated following.
When? Sunday, May 28th at 7.30pm
How much? Tickets are priced at £31, with restricted view options going for £24. Unfortunately there looks to be almost no availability, so if you’re desperate it might be best to check for cancellations between now and then.
What? Magic of Motown
Now in its 17th consecutive year of touring, one of the biggest theatre productions promises to bring a whole host of 60s and 70s classics from Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Jackson 5 and more. When? Thursday, June 1 at 8pm How much? Standard tickets are priced at £29.50, with restricted view options being sold for £22.50. There are only a handful of tickets left so jump on it.
What? Hello Again - The Neil Diamond Songbook
This production utilises a blend of production techniques from video imagery, pictures and narration to help this acclaimed production cover Neil Diamond’s glittering 50 year career, guaranteeing such hits as Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie, Forever in Blue Jeans, Love on the Rocks and more.

What? British Wildlife Lino printing workshop with Richard Jarvis
Taking a slight detour from the show stopping larger-scale theatrical productions, this next one is for budding artists that fancy having a go at something a little different. Artist Richard shall provide comprehensive guidance throughout the entire journey, commencing with the utilisation of cutting tools, transferring an image onto the lino, and carving the block, all the way until the final stages of inking and printing.

What? Beyond the Barricade
This is for those who are fans of musical theatre but struggle to pick a singular performance. So, why not a medley?
Beyond the Barricade will deliver over two hours of highlights from the West End and Broadway, with every musical note of the performances “still [being] played and sung live – very rare indeed.” When? Saturday, June 3 at 7.30pm How much? Standard tickets are £28, with restricted view options selling for £21.50. There are still around 70 tickets left for this one.
What? Milkshake! Live
One for the kids, it will bring two Milkshake presenters and a host of well-known characters including Daisy & Ollie, Milo, Noddy, Pip and Posy, Blue’s Clues & You! and of course Milkshake! Monkey for an unforgettable family time at Milkshake Monkey’s Musical.

How much? A standard ticket is £18, and £17 for children. For a family of four (two adults and two children) tickets are priced at £66.
