Defeat sees Shepshed still searching for first league win

SHEPSHED’S 1st XI are still searching for their first win in Division One after a narrow home defeat at the hands of Electricit­y Sports.

Shepshed won the toss they decided to bowl and Electricit­y Sports finished on 210-6 from their 45 overs with Tom Parker taking 2-33. In reply Shepshed finished on 183-9 from their 45 overs with Jake Lister finishing on 66 not out but it was not enough as Shepshed lost the game by 27 runs.

Shepshed’s 2nd XI were away against Quorn’s 1st XI and it was Shepshed who won the toss and they decided to bat and after their 45 overs they had scored 204-7 with Andy Kenneth top scoring with 64 and Sam Smith hit 61.

With the ball the Shepshed bowlers bowled superbly and restricted Quorn to 126-9 after 45 overs with Kumara Kesana taking 3-34 as Shepshed won the game by 78 runs.

Shepshed’s 3rd XI were away against Asian Sports 4th XI and after winning the toss Shepshed decided to bowl and Asian Sports finished on 173 after 39.2 Overs with Pete Pitts taking 4-44 including a hat trick, Also in the wickets were youngsters Amber Bottrill, Danny Miller and Benji Stevenson who all took two wickets.

In reply Shepshed had a day to forget as they were bowled out for 113 in 31.2 overs with Carson Mendel top scoring with 30, so Shepshed lost the game by 60 runs.

Shepshed’s 4th XI were at home against Twycross 2nds and after winning the toss they decided to bowl and after 27.4 overs they had bowled Twycross out for 102-7 as Twycross had only eight players. The pick of the Shepshed bowlers was Srinath Nair who took 5-34.

In reply Shepshed hit the ground running and after 24.2 overs they had reached their target finishing on 103-2 after 24.2 overs with Phil Warrington top scoring with 66 not out and Harry Blunt finished on 10 not out, Shepshed winning the game by 8 wickets.
