Cotton fabric: 25x25cm, teal

Stranded cotton: 1 skein each of orange, purple, light pink, dark pink and yellow

Embroidery hoop: 13cm diameter

STITCHES USED

Backstitch, Chain Stitch, French Knot, Lazy Daisy Stitch, Satin Stitch, Split Stitch, Stem Stitch

01 Begin by working the flowers using Lazy Daisy Stitch in two strands of orange.

02 Then, work the pointed ovals in Satin Stitch using two strands of purple, with the direction of the stitches coming out from the centre of the design.

03 Work the ‘v’ shapes between the pointed ovals in Chain Stitch using two strands of yellow. Then, use Backstitch to work the diamond and egg-shaped motifs in two strands of dark pink and light pink.

04 Stitch the circle in the centre of the egg shapes in Split Stitch using two strands of orange. Next, work the ‘v’ shapes around the outside of the design in Stem Stitch using two strands of light pink.

05 To finish, add the French Knots in two strands using purple on the inside edge and yellow around the outer edge of the design.
