Check the ends of your threads are firmly secured to prevent them from unravelling over time. Weaving the thread under the back of the stitches should be enough, but make sure you weave a generous amount because a short end could become undone. This is also the best method to prevent knots which could irritate the skin.

When washing embroidered clothing, pay attention to the care label of both the garment and the threads.

Some thread brands are suitable for machine washing and others are not, so it’s always worth double checking. If the thread doesn’t have any obvious labelling, then you can head to the company website where there should be instructions. If you are unsure, then handwashing is the safest bet to ensure the longevity of your embroidery.
