Long and Short Blanket Stitch

Bring the needle up at 1, down at 2 and up at 3 with the thread under the needle (as with basic Blanket Stitch), but vary the length of the vertical stitches so that they scale from long to short then back to long in even steps. You might find it useful to create temporary lines across your fabric to help guide this stitch.
