Whipped Backstitch
First work a line of Backstitch. Next, thread a blunt pointed tapestry needle and bring it up from beneath the centre of the first Backstitch. Bring the needle out under the stitch and thread it under the next stitch from bottom to top. Continue whipping the Backstitches this way without piercing the fabric or thread.
