Idon’t generally use power tools on vehicles, but I quite fancied the idea of this cordless ratchet. Using a 10.8v interchangeable battery (part no. 16254, £22.92) and needing a charger (16255, £22.92), the ratchet makes short work of doing up fixings. It’s reasonably powerful too, with max torque of 32lb ft (45Nm), so when you tighten a fixing you certainly know about it – it tries to wrench itself out of your hand.

With a 3∕8-inch drive and supplied with a ¼-inch adapter, the reversible ratchet is easy to use, has a simple grip-operated on/off switch, battery level indicator and built-in light. It’s handy for tight areas where you may struggle with a manual ratchet, and at 250rpm it makes quick work of fixings. VERDICT: Takes the monotony out of dealing with lots of fixings.
