If, like me, you have an awning with optional sidewalls for long-term camps or for a bit of privacy, you may get irritated when bad weather forces an opening between your Land Rover and the awning sidewall.

British camping gear specialist Kampa has addressed this with its Limpet system. It’s a simple set of eight screw-together limpet-like devices, about the size of golf balls, that grip the side of your Land Rover with suckers and also grip holes in the sidewall (made with a purpose-made punch or simple spike). They hold the sidewall snug against the side of your Land Rover and keep the elements firmly outside. VERDICT: Genius. Why did nobody think of this before?
