Plans to turn office into new medical centre revealed
PLANS have been submitted to transform an empty office building into a medical centre.
Orbit Developments has applied to Cheshire East Council for permission to change the legal use of Greenway House on Tytherington Business Park from an office into a medical or health centre.
The location off Larkwood Way benefits from 150 car parking spaces around the building. The two-storey building boasts almost 2,600 sq m of space.
The application also includes extending the opening hours from 7am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.
Orbit, which has a base in Alderley Edge, is landlord and developer of Tytherington Business Park. The company has struggled to fill Greenway House the only building left to let following AstraZeneca’s exit from there in 2011.
Orbit is now consulting with neighbours on the business park including Kids Unlimited Nurseries on Springwood Way.
A new medical centre will be a welcome addition to the area with hundreds of new homes being build over the coming year. The nearest GP surgeries are in Bollington and Water’s Green.
Renting the whole building would cost almost £30,000 every month.
Cheshire East Councillor Lloyd Roberts, who represents Tytherington ward, said: “It looks like Orbit feel with the developments coming to Tytherington there is a need for a medical centre. If there is a need and it will benefit the community then I am all for it.”
