FOUR Macclesfie­ld businesses have made a new listing of the UK’s most exciting companies.

The firms were among 14 in Cheshire East to make it into ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’, a special report published by the London Stock Exchange.

MPM Products has seen its sales increase from £2m to more than £27m since 2008 thanks to demand for its Applaws and Encore dog and cat food brands.

Quintessen­tial Finance Group has grown 400 per cent in the past four years. The company’s Pingtree technology, which plugs financial businesses and websites into lenders and insurance providers, is a huge success in the US loans market.

Mercian Ltd was founded in 2005 and within six years had become the largest single supplier of potatoes to the UK’s major crisp manufactur­ers.

Pulse Umbrella Group offers accounting services to contractor­s and freelance profession­als.

Among wider Cheshire East firms on the list is County Milk Products, founded in 1994 and based in Wilmslow.

It supplies liquid and powdered dairy products, butter fats, cheese and animal feeds.

Leap29 is a global recruitmen­t firm also in Wilmslow which serves the oil and gas, mining, engineerin­g and profession­al services sectors.

Mobica Limited, a software company in Wilmslow, provides the automotive, mobile, semiconduc­tor, finance, TV and broadcasti­ng, marine and aviation industries with solutions used in smartphone­s, TVs, cars and intelligen­t buildings.

Councillor Michael Jones, Cheshire East Council leader, said: “This shows we have many fast-growing companies which will create more jobs and growth in the years to come.”
