Mosaic artist shares her creative secret

-

A CARE home got a creative workshop by a talented mosaic artist.

Award winning Debra Tracy, from The Creative Space Studio, a Community Interest Company in Bollington, gave residents at Prestbury Beaumont Care Community lessons.

Her visit was part of the monthly Afternoon Tea Talk, which involves inviting guest speakers.

David Alderman, activities co-ordinator at Prestbury Beaumont, said the activities, which are open to visitors, are a way of engaging with the village and encouraging residents in the care home to interact, meet other people and bring together the community.

He said: “These activities we are providing for everyone have established a sense of The Beaumont being a social hub within the community, and now people check every month what is going on at our place on Prestbury’s noticeboards because they are keen on participating.”

The Creative Space Studio was established in 2004 and aims to offer accessible creative workshops to the community.

Since then, Debra has delivered mosaic and art workshops to hundreds of schools and community groups and has been successful in obtaining several awards, including the 2012 Macclesfield and Wilmslow Business Award for community work.

The next Afternoon Tea Talk will be on May 22 and comes from Alastair Bain from Energy Projects Plus, a environmental charity which aims to educate the public about energy efficiency.
