‘Awards are a great chance to get in spotlight’

THE North East Cheshire Business Awards celebrate the area’s high fliers in a number of categories.

This year there are 10 categories and entries are welcome from all businesses.

The categories are: Business of the year with a turnover over £5m; business of the year with a turnover between £1m and £5m; excellence in customer service award; start-up business of the year; best company to work for; innovation and design award; best use of social media; best design/ creative award; team of the year; and small business of the year.

The awards are open for entries and the closing date is September 30.

This week we have Alison Smart, print director at printing firm RA Smart. She has been with the company for 10 years and looks after the company’s digital print department, covering a range of customers from fashion, interior design and household textiles.

Which award are you sponsoring? Innovation and design.

Why have you got involved with the business awards? I have been involved in the business awards from the first launch and it has been a great experience working with the team and watching the event grow.

They are a great opportunit­y to learn about and get to know local businesses.

Getting the right exposure for your business is often hard and very important. The business awards are a great tool and opportunit­y for your business to come into the spotlight and generate new and exciting opportunit­ies.

Why did you choose to sponsor that particular award? RA Smart are always excited to be involved in the locals awards – our business is heavily involved in both innovation and design we are constantly looking for new challenges.

RA Smart are the UK’s leading digital and screen printer we are constantly developing testing and launching new products and machinery.

Why is East Cheshire such a great place to do business? In my opinion East Cheshire has great mix of businesses, both well establishe­d and new seedlings that will certainly have the opportunit­y grow into successful businesses.

What is your best piece of business advice? Look after your customers and suppliers, and continue to evolve and learn from past experience­s.

Using the wide range of social media is a popular and successful route to promote your business and discover new clients.

Anything else you would like to add? The awards gala black tie dinner is always a fantastic event, exciting for the entrants and a great way to network.
