●● MACCLESFIELD Cricket Club has raised £600 for East Cheshire Hospice with its annual ladies lunch event.
The event at the ground on Victoria Road including a three-course meal cooked by Michelle Platt, caterer at the club, and her team.
This year the club had a raffle in aid of the hospice in memory of a the late Sylvia Holland, a member of the cricket club Ladies Lunch regular, who also volunteered at the hospice. The raffle had donations from P.R Jones The Jewellers, Macclesfield, RS Higginbotham Haulage, Railway Inn Congleton, Nails and Beauty by Johanna, The Sutton Gamekeeper, DV8 Congleton, TTS Meats, Chestergate Cosmetics among others.
Claire Hughes from the cricket club said: “Sylvia was a lovely lady and volunteered at the hospice and was a great friend to my mother. The weather was lovely the cricket was great with Macclesfield 1st Team beating Marple, and to top it all off we raised a fantastic £600 for East Cheshire Hospice. I want to thank all the local businesses for their kind donation.” ●● THE Silk Trader on Brook Street will host a northern soul and motown night on August 28.
