Disability charity to benefit at awards

-

THE DEADLINE is approaching to submit entries to the area’s business awards and support a well-loved charity.

Organisers of this year’s North East Cheshire Business Awards picked the Rossendale Trust in Sutton as the charity to benefit from proceeds from the awards.

The charity, on Hollin Lane in Sutton, supports adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Being chosen as the beneficiary for this year’s business awards follows on from the Trust winning the Community Impact Award at the 2014 awards.

The business awards celebrate the best of business in Macclesfield and around.

Money from a raffle, prize draw and any other donations at the awards gala dinner will be donated to the trust.

The Trust hopes to use the funds raised for its ‘WorkTaste’ project which provides tenants with placements in a variety of businesses and projects in and around Macclesfield.

Also, the Trust’s day activity centre, Oakwood, is seeking funds to refur- bish and re-equip the gardening service.

Sue Heaven, from the Trust, said: “It’s a great thing to be picked as the charity for the awards. It’s raising our profile in the business community.

“I would urge people to get their entries in before the deadline.

“Since winning last year, it’s been great for us. I refer to it like the ripples on the pond effect, you don’t know how far it will go.”

Representatives from Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce, which runs the awards, are urging businesses to submit entries and support the charity.

Sue Bowden, from the chamber, said: “The Rossendale Trust demonstrated what invaluable work they do when they won the Community Impact award last year.

“Winning the award focused the Trust management team on getting an objective assessment of the Trust as an organisation and they have recently achieved the Investor in People status, which demonstrates not only how they support the tenants in their care but how their staff embrace the mission, vision and values of the Trust.”

There are 10 categories in the awards. The closing date is September 30 and the awards culminate in a gala dinner at The Mere on November 19. Entry is free and forms are available via necbawards.co.uk.
