Walks for all at town festival

-

BOLLINGTON Walking Festival is back with a host of strolls, hikes and treks to take part in.

The town will host the sixth annual event with a week of walks for all ages and abilities. There are also events running alongside the walks.

There are 38 walks of lengths from one to 20 miles.

Some walks have particular themes, including art, history, nature, photography, beer and the ever–popular ghost walk.

Christine Brear, from the festival, said the walks explore the scenery, wildlife and heritage of Bollington.

She said: “There are opportunities to learn orienteering and navigation, to examine the Milky Way, to Nordic walking, a walk for health with local doctors, and even to find romance on the first-ever singles walk.

“Check out the programme of walks and events to find those that match your ability and interests then come and join in.”

The walking festival is from Saturday, September 26 to Sunday, October 4.

Events include a festival quiz night in aid of the Bridgend Centre at The Poachers Inn, Ingersley Road at 8.30pm on Sunday, September 27.

There is a Sunrise and Sausages event at White Nancy at 6.30am on the same day.

On Monday, September 28 there is a Walkers Social at the Bridgend Centre with a guest speaker from Pinnacle Walking Holidays, at 7.30pm.

A beginners navigation course is on Friday, October 2 from 10am to 4pm at the Bridgend Centre.

See the festival on Facebook for more details of events or contact the Bridgend Centre on 01625 576311.
