Name/which organisati­on are you involved with?: Jackie Poskitt. Age UK Cheshire East. How did you become a volunteer?: I believe in giving something back to the community and Age UK Cheshire East is close to my heart, and the fact that money is spent locally is also important to me. I have a huge respect for the elderly and am glad to support them in any positive way I can. What do you enjoy most about your role there?: Meeting such a wide variety of people and being able to help make people happy. It has also extended my social circle and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere. What has been your most memorable/ funniest moment while you have been volunteeri­ng?: My most memorable moment was being presented with flowers on my birthday by the shop managers. What was your first job?: Telephonis­t. What/where is your favourite place in Macclesfie­ld?: I enjoy visiting Arighi Bianchi to have a browse around and visit their coffee shop. Ideally how would you spend every day?: Making people happy. What was the best holiday you have been on?: Visiting Disneyland and Universal Studios in America. If money was no object what would you do?: Travel the world. What one piece of advice would you give?: Make the most of every day, as life is very short and treat others as you would like to be treated.

What is on your CD / MP3 player?: The Overtones, Ed Sheeran, Rod Stewart, Lady Antebellum, Paul Carrack. What is your favourite TV show?: Friends. What are you reading at the moment?: The Island by Victoria Hislop. What is your biggest inspiratio­n?: People overcoming serve disabiliti­es to achieve success and to contribute to others’ wellbeing. Who would you like to invite to dinner?: Graham Norton or Michael Parkinson. ●● AS a local charity, Age UK Cheshire East supports people aged 50+, their families and carers in the borough of Cheshire East through the provision of high quality practical and emotional support. We provide 21 services supporting 11,000+ older people per annum. With over half the local population of Cheshire East now over the age of 50, the organisati­on has never been busier. Our mission is to improve later life for vulnerable, isolated older people in our community, offering advice, informatio­n, advocacy, friendship, practical support and activities to support health and wellbeing and continued independen­ce. Every penny that we raise is spent locally on a wide range of services that make later life more fulfilling for older people in Cheshire East.
