Future is looking bright at Langley
LANGLEY Juniors celebrated a first season in the High Peak League with a very well attended end of season event.
Main junior sponsor Stuart Grundy of Jordan Fishwick and local residents Fran Cotton and Craig Stevens were the guests of honour as the juniors competed in an inter club game, followed by a presentation.
Stuart Grundy presented each player with a medal and commented: “Jordan Fishwick are delighted to be able to support Langley Cricket Club and in particular their burgeoning junior section. It is fantastic to see so many people at the club enjoying the cricket and socialising at this wonderful ground.”
Local resident and junior sponsor Fran Cotton followed the presentation by saying some words about the club.
“Over the last few years I have been delighted to be able to support my local cricket club. It is clear to see the progress Langley has made and the accumulation of this hard work is children and their families now becoming an integral part of club life.
“This bodes very well for the future and I’m thrilled to be able to support that.”
Several club volunteers and helpers contributed on the day with a BBQ, bouncy castle and the presence of a 15-foot inflatable woolly mammoth being the main highlights!
A Kids versus Parents gamed rounded off the day with the kids having the opportunity to bowl and bat against their very competitive parents. Great fun had by all.
Closing the day off, junior head coach Matt Stevens reflected: “It’s been a great day for the club and for all the juniors and their families who have chosen Langley Cricket Club to start their cricketing life. Junior cricket is of paramount importance to our club and we hope that within five years we will have juniors at all age groups.
“Our volunteer coaches have been tireless in the work they put in week after week and their hard work is beginning to really pay off. Onwards and upwards for 2016 and beyond.”
