Tributes to caring crash victim Emily
FAMILY and colleagues have paid tribute to a Macclesfield Hospital worker who died in a car accident in Gawsworth.
Emily Burgess, 34, was travelling towards Macclesfield when the horror smash happened and her car was in a collision with a bus on Congleton Road.
The accident happened just days before Emily was due to take part in a charity challenge for the Alzheimer’s society.
Her partner still completed the walk and the fundraisers have so far raised more than £600.
Emily, who was from Sandbach, worked at Macclesfield Hospital as a medical secretary.
Speaking on his Justgiving website, Martin Gunther said: “Many thanks for the continued and amazing support.
“Sadly Emily passed away on Thursday 1st October before the event, but [we] completed the long walk.
“Emily is greatly missed by all, and she felt strongly about this cause.”
A spokesperson for her family said: “Emily Burgess née Bedford of Sandbach, was a caring, fun and much loved fiancée, step mother, sister, daughter and proud NHS employee.
“She is greatly missed by all who knew her. Her funeral will be held in Cambridge month.
“All donations to the Alzheimer’s society, a charity which was dear to her heart, are most gratefully received.”
An East Cheshire NHS Trust spokesperson also paid tribute to Emily, who
later
this has worked at the trust for more than two years.
He said: “She was a very popular and wellrespected member of her team and had a quiet, kind and caring disposition.
“She will be greatly missed by her colleagues who would like to extend their heartfelt condolences to Emily’s family.”
Emily died on October 1 when her blue Ford Focus crashed with the bus.
Emergency services, including a fire engine from Macclesfield, arrived at the scene but she could not be saved and died at the scene.
The collision on the A536 Congleton Road happened at 7.45am.
Anyone with information on the collision can contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 156 of 1 October.
