Name: Elizabeth Brimelow. What do you do?: I am a quilt maker. What is the best thing about Macclesfield?: All the friends I have made in the years I have lived here. What is the worst thing about Macclesfield?: Too many spaces not properly cared for, possibly because of recent development uncertainties. Where is your favourite place in Macclesfield?: The 108 steps and
Paradise Mill. How long have you been an artist?: 25 years. What do you enjoy most about doing this?: I enjoy stitching and manipulating cloth which I use for its tactile quality, its intimacy and its substance. Landscape is where I live, what I look at, what I draw and what I stitch. Who are your main artistic influences?: Agnes Martin, Rosalie Gascoigne, Patrick Heron, Ivon Hitchens, Dorothy Caldwell, Fay Godwin and Richard Diebenkorn – if anyone does not know their work look them upthey are wonderful! What’s the funniest or most memorable thing that’s happened while you’ve been doing an artwork – or what’s the most memorable you have done?: Drawing a pineapple field in Fiji. If you could produce an artwork for anyone?: I would like to give each of my children a piece to treasure. What/who is your biggest inspiration?: The landscape around my home in Rainow.
