Guiseley get swept aside by Silkmen

- VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE

MACCLESFIELD Town picked up an impressive victory at Guiseley to keep up their good run of form.

A free kick by Paul Turnbull followed by goals from Danny Whitehead and Danny Whitaker in either half ensured the Silkmen recorded their second successive 3-0 away victory.

It took 24 minutes for Macc to take the lead, with Turnbull curling a free-kick around the wall and into the corner to make it 1-0.

Just before the interval Macc doubled their advantage.

Danny Whitaker hit a long-ranged effort which bounced just in front of Steven Drench, however the weather conditions saw the ball skid away from the helpless keeper and into the back of the net.

A much more even contest in the second half saw Guiseley push for a goal as Adam Boyes found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Shwan Jalal, but as Boyes executed his effort, fantastic reflexes from Jalal saw Macc keep their healthy two-goal advantage.

Three points were then all but confirmed just before the hour mark when a storming run down the right by Whitehead saw him cross the ball along the wet surface for Whitaker to slide into the net to make it 3-0 to Macc.

In a late bid the hosts brought on Liam Dickinson who made an impact as minutes after coming on he earned a penalty for his side.

Dickinson stepped up but Jalal came out on top after diving far into his left corner before tipping the ball just wide to make an excellent penalty save.
