International camp for King’s girls
A FABULOUS four King’s girl hockey players have been selected for the Pennine Pumas as part of selection for the national teams.
Olivia Moores (U15), Natalie Stevens (U16), Annabel Hebb (U17) and Eleanor Toms (U17) have qualified for the HiPac and Futures Cup. Olivia, Annabel and Eleanor will all attend a high performance assessment camp for U15 and U17 age groups over three days which will give them first-hand experience of an international training camp environment, while Natalie Stevens will go to the Futures Cup tournament at U16 level.
King’s Hockey coach Sarah Hopkin said: “These pathways will give the girls experience of international training and tournament environments, both of which will prepare them for potential future involvement in England squads.”
Sarah added: “They have been selected as the top 18 girls from the North of England and will now also compete for the Pennine Pumas against girls from all over the country.”
The girls combine their success at King’s while performing for the area’s top clubs with Olivia from Macclesfield, Annabel from Tytherington and Natalie from Macclesfield all playing for Alderley Edge, while Eleanor from Poynton plays for National League club Bowdon.
Sarah Hopkin added: “The region has some fantastic hockey clubs with whom we are delighted to work in partnership to develop such strong individual and team talent.”
The Pennine Pumas will now take on teams from across the UK as the national youth sides are selected. Archie Phillips from King’s Boys’ Division has also been selected for the under-15 boys; Pennine Pumas.
He lives in Knutsford and plays for Bowdon.
