Suburbs tick all the boxes for family life
●● ALEXANDER Mitchell and Carolyn Williams have recently opened Mitchell Williams Estate Agents in Cheadle village. Here they give us their insight into the local housing market. THE postcode SK8 has always attracted interest from buyers relocating within and into the area, but in more recent times the number of purchasers looking to seek residence from surrounding suburbs such as Didsbury and Bramhall has increased.
Strolling down Cheadle and Cheadle Hulme high streets reveals a subtle facelift both villages have benefited from in recent years, with the arrival of new businesses securing previously empty shop units.
It’s hardly surprising that many family buyers are looking to raise their children here due to the highly regarded schools and education facilities within the area, which have produced some of the best grades in the country.
Cheadle Hulme High School, ranked ‘outstanding’ in every category of its Ofsted report, is set to see the arrival in 2016 of a sixth form college and its two form entry primary school will be known as Cheadle Hulme Primary School.
In addition to the purchase and future construction to renovate Bruntwood Hall into a boutique hotel, one of the most exciting proposals is the long-awaited development of the Barnes Hospital site in Cheadle.
The original historic building, which was built in 1875, is to be renamed Barnes Village, which will bring 155 new homes to Cheadle over the course of the next few years.
The proposal of the 155 homes will include the reconstruction of the Gothic Grade II listed building while the remainder of the development will be a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
New home developers are capitalising on the demand for the area with properties catering for a wide audience.
These include the development of mews cottages on Hulme Hall road, Park View development by Westby on Councillor Lane, and Dutton Court retirement homes by McCarthy & Stone at Station Approach.
With such bustling activity within the housing market, many sellers are continuing to achieve exceptional prices for their homes, benefitting from the healthy number of buyers and continued low interest rates – there really has never been a better time to sell.
