Police warning after Land Rover thefts
POLICE have urged residents to be vigilant of thieves targeting Land Rovers after a theft in a rural area.
A red Land Rover Defender was stolen from a driveway in the Pedley Hill area of Rainow in Macclesfield.
Officers have warned residents to be extra vigilant about thieves targeting the 4x4 vehicles which they say are becoming sought after.
Sgt Helen Percival, from Macclesfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “There’s been an increase in Land Rovers being stolen nationally and we urge people that have Land Rovers or live in rural areas to be extra vigilant.
“There has been a spate of incidents in the Rainow area in recent days including a theft of power tools and a theft from a car so we urge people to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
“Please leave keys where they can’t be viewed through your letterbox, even when at home.
“Be sure to keep vehicles secure and ring us with any information.”
The Land Rover was stolen between around 5pm on Wednesday, January 6 and 10am on Thursday, January 7.
