Club on a roll as skate sessions restart
SKATERS can now roll up to a new venue to indulge in their favourite pastime at the town’s Rollers Club.
The club, which has run roller discos for families in the north west for nine years, was forced to close at Christmas after Macclesfield Leisure Centre changed the floor surface in their sports hall, making skating difficult.
But now club manager Korby Sangha has found a new place at the Mulberry Sports and Leisure Centre near Alderley Edge’s Astra-Zeneca site.
Korby said: “The floor is excellent to skate on and the venue is great – let us hope that we can rebuild our sessions of nine years for our skaters.
“It was very disappointing when we saw that our customers were really struggling to skate on the new surface.
“It was a tough decision to withdraw from Macclesfield Leisure Centre and a very emotional end to a nine year relationship with what was our biggest roller disco. We struggled hard to find an alternative venue in the area but we hope now that we can get Macclesfield rolling again every Saturday at our new event.”
The club’s first session will take place on Saturday, January 16 from 4.15pm to 5.45pm.
