Young drug driver had been smoking cannabis

-

A TEENAGER was caught drug driving in his mum’s car.

Bradley Dobson, 19, was found with cannabis in his system after he was pulled over by police because of the standard of his driving.

Dobson, of Becks Lane, Macclesfield, admitted drug driving at Macclesfield magistrates’ court on December 29.

He was fined £125 and banned from driving for a year.

Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “On November 12 at 8.35pm PC Jones saw the defendant drive a Nissan Micra onto Chelford Road in a poor manner.

“He was also seen to cross the central line at excessive speed.

“PC Jones pulled the defendant over and tested him for drugs, which proved positive.

“The defendant told the officer he had been smoking cannabis earlier in the day.”

Anthony Gardner, defending, said Dobson, a part-time shop assistant, was ‘deeply sorry’ and ‘ashamed’ of his offence.

He said: “He was driving his mum’s car. He admits smoking cannabis casually from time to time with friends.

“After only a year of driving it’s a shameful experience.”
