Trekker only a month away from 550-mile fundraiser

-

A WALKER is only a month away from starting a marathon trek across England in support of local scouts.

Paul Truswell is taking on a challenge called the Trussy Trek on April 11.

Paul hopes to complete the walk on or around May 16.

It involves walking 550 miles east to west from Lowestoft to Land’s End.

His aim to raise thousands of pounds for the 1st Hurdsfield Scouts, Cubs and Beavers group so it can improve its Brocklehurst Avenue facilities.

It is the second big walk he has taken on. In 2014 he walked 300 miles from Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland, to the isle of Iona, off the west coast of Scotland, and raised £2,500 for the charity Cre8.

Paul said: “The walk is in support of 1st Hurdsfield Scouts who are in desperate need of funds to repair and improve their facilities.

“This is a very different walk to 2014. For one thing, at around 550 miles it is much longer. For another it is very much more populated so I guess that I will not be alone quite so much.

“My shortest day’s walk is nine miles and my longest is 22 miles.”

Paul has already raised hundreds of pounds in online donations through his website my.give.net/ trussytrek but he is hoping for much more.

To support Paul’s challenge you can send cash or cheques payable to ‘1st Hurdsfield Scouts’ to TrussyTrek c/o 94 South West Avenue, Bollington, SK10 5DS.
