●● LOTS of our readers took to our facebook page to praise Macclesfield College after Ofsted found that it ‘required improvement’ following an inspection. Lauren Georgia: It was a good college. My course was amazing and taught me so many things, yeah I had to write more essays about legal and ethical constraints than I wanted to but I learnt so much more than just the course, I learnt life skills like presenting and my teachers we absolutely amazing. Not only did they teach us, they also supported and helped us with our problems. There isn’t a fair look on this college I don’t think, the whole time they were inspecting not one time was my class inspected, it seems the classes that do well don’t get noticed and it’s not fair. Rachel Pickles: I studied at Macclesfield college for 3 years. I loved every minute of it. The staff are all lovely, friendly and are always there to help if you need them too. Going to Macclesfield college was the best thing I ever did. They helped me grow as an individual and gave me confidence I never thought I had. I would go back if I could. Hannah Shemilt: Some areas of Macc college really could do with improving, but I find it unfair for all courses to be tarnished by the same brush. I really loved my time completing media. I received so much support and encouragement from the course teachers who went above and beyond the call of duty, even a year later after I’d left, they helped me through applying to UCAS and securing interviews. I really don’t believe I could have gotten through these last couple of years and be moving on without them. Siobhan Yavanna: I have just finished a two year BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production, and honestly my experience of the college has been an extremely positive one. I don’t take exams well so I never felt like I achieved what I was capable of, however coming to this college and studying media here has really allowed me to excel. I have been encouraged and allowed to grow creatively, academically and as a person as well as being pushed by excellent tutors to achieve more than I ever thought was possible for myself. In my entire academic life I have never felt so strongly that a body of staff really care so much for the wellbeing of their students. I feel like the light the college is being cast in is highly unfair because the college experience is what each student makes of it and I genuinely think as a learning institution Macclesfield College does a lot to promote and encourage students to achieve the best they possibly can. Gaynor Tingle: I studied hairdressing level 2 here and I am going back for level 3. It was a brilliant course and the tutors were fab, friendly and always there to help. Can’t say anything bad at all, it’s the best thing I have done. Liam Donnelly: I never had a problem at this college I spent 4 years there in the catering and hospitality department. They’re all like one big family down there. Okay there were aspects of the college which could ohave improved but when I was there I saw them. Chelseaa Louise: I’ve studied level 2 hair. The tutors are fab and the course is run very well and I will be going back for Level 3 x Heather Llama: I have studied media make-up Level 2 and am going back to do level 3. I have absolutely loved my course at Macclesfield College. I can’t wait to go back. My teachers are incredible, they are friendly, very knowledgeable and they always have time for you. Other departments like student services are so friendly and helpful too. I have loved my course so much that I want to go to university and study media make-up. It’s thanks to my amazing teachers that help me and believe in me that will get me there. ●● LOTS of our readers spoke in support of turning part of Paradise Mill into apartments. Darren Parry: Need to consider the needs of families with children in the bigger picture, but apart from that, what’s not to like? Val Lloyd: Very very expensive but the idea is brilliant if it can be delivered. Margaret Hanson: Good idea better that than standing derelict. ●● LAST week we featured a story about the Brocklehurst family, who are celebrating after their son Jake returned home after spending two years in hospital. Rebecca Ann Vernon: So glad you’re home being a normal family again. So glad to see you did finally get that diagnosis, I know how important it was too you all. Love to see you all looking so well. Fantastic photo! Lots of love Rebecca and Myles xxx Sharon Ewart: So glad you’re all home together as a family xx take care guys Paula Potts: Amazing! So glad you are all able to return home. Super strong family x Jonathan Smith: That’s great news he’s home. All the best and to more hope for the future Beverley Russon: Honoured to know this amazing family. Always smiling.
