Students win cup for second time
PUPILS at Marton and District Primary School are celebrating after retaining a sports day title for the second year.
The school defended its ‘small school town sports’ title at the annual Congleton primary schools sports competition.
And after some impressive performances from both the girls and boys, they brought home the title for the second time.
A spokesperson for the school said: “There were some fantastic individual performances and some unbelievable team efforts in the relays which eventually saw the girls crowned Small Schools Girls champions once July 21) between 1.30pm and 3pm.
Entrance is free. ●● MARTON Village Fete takes place on Saturday, July 23, from 1pm.
There will be a whole host of activities for families, including live music, games, a dog again. A strong team performance from the boys enabled the Small Schools Overall trophy to return to Marton.
“The children have worked hard and really done the school proud.
“It is a great achievement to have retained the title and a brilliant end to the sporting year at Marton.” show, climbing wall, owl display, circus animals, mountain bike display, food and craft stalls and a barbecue.
The event will open with the traditional Rose Queen procession, and a new Rose Queen will be crowned for the following year.
