Outstanding result from town centre shoppers

-

SHOPPERS donated more than £1,200 to a charity collection at the Grosvenor Centre.

Volunteers from Marie Curie collected over just two days as part of the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal.

Ed Kennedy, manager of the centre, said he was delighted that shoppers had given so generously.

He said: “To collect such a large amount in such a short period of time is staggering. I’ve seen first-hand how kind-hearted shoppers in Macclesfield are through our various charitable activities that take place here during the year. I’m extremely proud that we’ve been able to help be a part of raising such an outstanding amount of money.”

The collection was run by the Macclesfield Marie Curie Macclesfield Fundraising Group which helps raise vital funds in Macclesfield and the surrounding areas.

Jessica Herrington, East Cheshire Community Fundraiser, said the money raised by shoppers in Macclesfield would make a huge difference to the charity. She said: “Every £20 that is collected funds one hour of nursing care for those with terminal illnesses. The donations that we received from being in the centre and on Macclesfield Street means that patients will be able to receive more than 62 hours of care. I really can’t thank everyone at the Grosvenor Centre and the people of Macclesfield enough.”
