THIS year’s prestigious Macclesfield Art Fair will help support a much needed service within East Cheshire Hospice – art therapy.
Art therapy has been offered to patients and relatives at the hospice for the past 16 years and is accessible on a weekly basis at the Sunflower Centre (
Organisers hope this September’s fair will help support this important service moving forward.
“In 2014 we raised over £55,000 and this year we aim to make even more to support the important role of art therapy at the hospice,” said Fio Brereton, chair of Art Fair 2016.
The biennial Art Fair, established in 1999, has now established itself as one of the most respected art exhibitions in the north west of England and this year will feature the work of more than 100 local and regional artists showcasing their work, including established painters Ben Kelly and Jenny Hirst, and international textile artist, Louise Gardiner.
“We want as many adults and children as possible to visit and enjoy the show,” added Fio.
“Over 35 per cent of every piece sold goes directly to the hospice, with some artists donating hundreds in proceeds to the charity. The more art we sell, the more money we make for this hugely important community resource.”
Art Fair 2016 will build on the success of previous years, exhibiting original paintings, sculpture, limited edition prints, woodcraft and handmade jewellery.
There will also be several special events, as well as art tours of the exhibition and a café selling hot drinks and homemade cakes, so visitors can take a break while they browse.
Art Fair 2016 runs for 10 days from Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September 25 and is open from 10.30am until 5pm during the week.
