Lucky Clarissa celebrates a century
A TALENTED seamstress has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Clarissa Leech, a resident of Parklands care home in Poynton, claims she has not secret to living a long life but it just lucky.
She celebrated her birthday with a 1940s-style party organised by staff at the CLS-run home including Sim Slack, Pauline Hall and Georgia Kirkham.
Clarissa, who described reaching 100 as one of her greatest achievements, celebrated her milestone surrounded by friends at the home.
During the day, Clarissa was presented with birthday presents, bouquets of flowers, and a special card from the Queen congratulating her on hitting a century.
Partygoers enjoyed a buffet tea with birthday cake and sandwiches before having a dance and sing-along with a 1940s entertainer to a number of wartime classics.
Born and raised in London, Clarissa worked as a dressmaker on Oxford Street in her youth.
She lived at Oakland Court in Poynton before moving to Parklands last year.
A talented seamstress, Clarissa’s hobbies include dressmaking and knitting.
Clarissa said she felt ‘marvellous’ about reaching 100, and when asked about the secret to long life, she replied: “There is no secret, just luck.”
Catherine Brown, manager at Parklands, said: “We were delighted to help Clarissa celebrate turning 100.
“Everyone at Parklands thoroughly enjoyed the party and it was wonderful to see Clarissa having such a lovely time on her special day.”
