Return home wash out for Macclesfield

-

MACCLESFIELD CC 1XI were due to be back in action at home to Bramhall CC at the weekend in a game sponsored by local firm, East Cheshire Mortgages.

However, the East Cheshire climate unfortunately put an end to any cricket being played as the morning rain soon became the afternoon showers and much like the reverse fixture between these two teams, the game was cancelled without a ball being bowled.

Macclesfield are now in eighth position in the league and are away at Chester Boughton Hall this coming Saturday.

Meanwhile the seconds did manage to get a game in, away at Tattenhall.

Macc won the toss and put the hosts in to bat.

After seven overs, and at 23-0, rain came and curtailed proceedings until 5pm.

The match then restarted with a 62 over game.

Tattenhall reached 149 off 35 overs, all Macc bowlers doing well but particular mentions for Will Smith and Stuart Parks.

Macc had 27 overs to chase down the total, Adnan went early and Fin soon after, but there were some fine boundaries between him and Angus.

Angus and skipper Jim Melrose batted brilliantly to reach 132 with two overs to go.

Angus departed chasing boundaries for a brilliant 52 and Will Smith likewise.

Andy Moores entered with two balls to go and seven needed but could only manage four. Macc fell agonisingly short on 147, the skipper with a brilliant 56*.

The thirds won away at Sandbach, chasing down 106 to win by two wickets.

Olly Smith top scored with 61.
