Runners up spot for Bosley in fundraising event

- TUG OF WAR

BOSLEY Tug of War Club hosted a charity tug of war event in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice. Teams from around the country took part, including teams from as far afield as Devon, Somerset and Northumberland.

The event took place at Glebe Farm in Astbury, with teams flexing their muscles in different weight classes for mens teams, ladies teams and youth teams. The winning teams in different weight classes were the teams from Norton and Felton Eccles in the mens weight classes, Gloucester ACF and Upton on Severn in the ladies and junior weight classes and Bedford won the mixed weight category. It was the first tug of war event to take place in the area following the recent national tug of war championships which took place at Macclesfield Rugby Club

The home team Bosley Tug of War Club missed out on a winners spot, but finished as runners up in the mens 600kg and 640kg competitions.

The tug of war event raised £300 for the East Cheshire Hospice.

Bosley spokesman Alan Knott thanked everyone who came along to support the event, with thanks being extended to Glebe Farm Shop in Astbury for providing the venue, and the Bollington Brewing Company for supplying the prizes for the event.

Bosley Tug of War Club will be running the charity tug of war competition in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice again next year, so anyone interested in forming a team to take part should keep their eye out for the date next year.

Bosley Tug of War Club will be in attendance at the memorial event in the village of Bosley this Saturday (16th June) and will be running a tug of war competition for local teams there from 4pm. The next Tug of War Association event taking place in Cheshire will be the tug of war competition being held at the Cheshire Game and Angling Fair on Sunday 7th August.
