CHARITY Law team supports skin cancer gala dinner
SOLICITORS joined forces with a skin cancer charity for a fundraising dinner.
Macclesfield- based solicitors Thorneycroft, based at Bridge Street Mills, Bridge Street, staged an evening of glamour and fun with Melanoma UK.
The 200 guests included patients, bereaved families and supporters of the charity.
Gill Nuttall, founder of Melanoma UK, introduced film clips of ambassadors and medical experts to the charity and reminded the audience that during the time it had taken them to leave work the day before and arrive at the glittering event, six people in the UK had died of melanoma.
Rachel Stow, managing director of Thorneycroft said: “It was an honour to be given this sponsorship opportunity to help and support a very worthy charity but to also raise awareness of the damage that can be caused by not looking after your skin.”
Mrs Nuttall said: “As we approach our 10th year, it is really heartwarming to see the support that we continue to receive from old and new supporters.
“We were very grateful to have Thorneycrofts solicitors as a brand new sponsor for this year’s event. “It was a delight to welcome the partners and staff to our summer ball and to see that altruism in the business world exists. Sadly, melanoma continues to increase in the UK, making our work even more vital. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening and we are delighted that we once again put the issue of the seriousness of this disease in the minds of 200 people.”
Last year more 14,000 new cases of melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, were diagnosed.
