Card company’s TV spot shows it is switched on after Brexit vote
TYTHERINGTON based card printing company Plastic Card Services was beamed into living rooms across the UK as part of a Brexit themed BBC broadcast.
Managing director Rob Nicholls and colleagues were selected to represent the northwest in a live TV broadcast for BBC Breakfast.
Filmed from the factory floor of the company, based at Redwood Court on Tytherington Business Park, presenter Colletta Smith interviewed Rob alongside other guests, CEO of Private White VC James Eden and economist Gemma Godfrey, as around 7 million viewers tuned in.
Rob Nicholls gave his views on how the value of the pound has impacted export and imports and the advance steps he chose to put in place to prevent any major impact on the business.
The company was also given the opportunity to showcase its printing prowess with a live tour around the various stages of card print and production.
The TV broadcast came after Rob and a number of the company’s employees first took part in a radio interview with BBC Radio Five Live’s Adam Parsons to discuss the impact Britain’s exit from the EU has had on the workplace.
Rob said: “The overwhelming response in the radio interviews was that on the morning after the crucial vote there was an awkward atmosphere in the workplace. However, it wasn’t long before everyone continued to work with each other as normal. After all, the show must go on or, in this case, the cards must be printed!”
He added: “Having the BBC broadcasting live to the nation from our factory floor was not only a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our products and services, but also provided an excellent chance to promote Macclesfield as a thriving business community.”
