Pubs celebrates scooping regional Real Ale award
A POYNTON pub has been recognised for its commitment to serving real ale.
The Cask Tavern in Poynton has earned the coveted title of Pub of the Year by Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA’s) High Peak, Tameside and North Cheshire branch.
The pub, on Park Lane, which is part of the Bollington Brewing Company, launched in 2013 and is a favourite among locals and visitors to the area, who enjoy its range of award-winning, locally brewed ales.
Commenting on the win, manager Tom Quinn, said the pub has worked hard to become part of the fabric of Poynton.
He said: “This area is recognised for its high concentration of well established pubs, so we were blown away to receive the accolade.
“We’re a small, friendly pub and our dedication to serving up outstanding brews in a relaxed and charming environment has built up a strong and loyal customer base.”
Lee Wainwright, owner of The Bollington Brewing Co. which also runs The Park Tavern in Macclesfield and The Vale Inn in Bollington, said the award recognised the company’s commitment to a personable approach, commitment to quality and excellent customer service.
Lee added: “Tom and the team have worked so hard to put The Cask on the local map so it’s a real coup to receive this recognition from CAMRA. We are a family business with a passion for brewing top quality ales, our dream has always been for people to be able to enjoy them in pubs that are truly rooted in the local community.” The Cask was formerly known as Red Rock. It serves six Bollington Beers, two real ciders and draught Prosecco.
