Pupils show their Olympic spirit
BEECH Hall School pupils might not be jetting off to Rio but they are celebrating the Olympic season with their own special Olympic values passports.
The school developed the Olympic Passport to celebrate the Olympic year and to help the pupils really understand the meaning of the games’ values – respect, excellence, friendship, determination, courage, equality and inspiration.
Pupils throughout the school received an individual passport to fill with stickers representing the three Olympic and four Paralympic values before the games started.
Many students have now completed their passports and graduated to the gold Premium Passport scheme, which incorporates a further three values of resilience, integrity and responsibility.
Year One pupil Austin O’Connor, from Eldon Road in Macclesfield, was one of the first to fill his passport and receive the new gold standard Premium Passport.
Austin, six, achieved all seven values due to his positive and friendly attitude.
He said: “It has been a lot of fun trying to win all of the stickers and it has made me work harder.
“I’m looking forward to getting the next three stickers and filling my gold passport up.”
Headmaster James Allen said: “The Olympic season is the perfect opportunity to really ingrain these values into the pupils here at Beech Hall School.
“It is essential we teach them to the pupils, not just for the Olympic year but to help them with general life skills.
“We are excited to be upgrading to the Premium Passport as the pupils have shown great determination to understand all of these important attributes.”
