Awards night hits right note
PUPILS at Tytherington School toasted their efforts during the school year with a musically accompanied awards ceremony.
Held in the final week of term, the Lower and Upper School awards evenings celebrated the contribution of outstanding students.
Teachers, governors, pupils, parents and guests all turned out for the chance to enjoy the fruits of their labour, with numbers from the school orchestra adding an extra special note to the evening.
The awards recognised both academic and community achievements and included a special Mr Wharton Endeavour award in honour of science teacher Guy Wharton who tragically died in a road accident in June.
Students who won the Endeavour award for their contribution to the school community were Ismail Rehman and Dylan Lawton-Johal from year seven, Annie James from year eight, Tallulah Howarth from year nine and Kim Perry from year ten.
Headteacher Manny Botwe said: “We enjoyed an evening of entertainment and celebration, recognising the exceptional achievements and contributions of so many of our young people.
“This is a school characterised by students’ and teachers’ commitment to learning and the warm relationships between staff and young people.
“The awards ceremony gave staff the chance to thank our great students and their parents.”
