Teenagers put in star performance
THE “Class of 2016” at Poynton High School have achieved outstanding results in their GCSE exams and early analysis shows that they are once again in line with the top 10 per cent of all students in the country.
Headteacher, David Waugh, said: “It is wonderful to see such amazing results and individual success stories. With just shy of 30pc of our students receiving 5 or more A and A* grades and approximately 40pc of students achieving the gold standard English Baccalaureate we are once again celebrating the outstanding achievement by our students. All of our staff and governors are so very proud of each and every student – they have done themselves, and their families, proud.”
An impressive 74pc of students achieved five or more GCSEs from A*-C including maths and English, 87pc got A*-C in GCSE English language and 85pc A*-C in English literature.
Thirty students got at least eight GCSEs graded at A and A* with our top performing students being Joel Bearn who gained 10 A*s and 1 A grade and Kate Jervis who gained a straight 10 A* grades.
