Motors firm is driving force behind football tournament
MACCLESFIELD car company Chrome Motors organised a junior football tournament, featuring 12 teams, at King’s School.
More than £330 was raised for East Cheshire Hospice by the Chrome in the Community initiative, started by the company after its opening in the town six years ago.
Marketing manager Adrian Bennett said: “Our roots are firmly in Macclesfield and we strive to support local organisations to benefit from our involvement and build strong productive partnerships.
“We all admire the work and commitment of everybody connected with East Cheshire Hospice and are delighted to raise money for the hospice and will continue to do so.”
Spectators included Macclesfield MP David Rutley, Macclesfield Mayor coun Alift Harewood-Jones and consort Peter Jones.
Hospice corporate and community relationships manager, Roxana Pirlea, said local business support is vital.
She said: “As a charity we provide all our services free to those in our community who need them.
“However, we have to raise more than £7,500 every day to provide these specialist services so events like the football tournament are a fantastic way of supporting our work and showcasing sporting talent.”
Stanley Park were under-11 winners after a penalty shoot-out with Shots, while Lisbon won the Plate. Shots beat Glenavon 2-1 to win the under-9s, with the Plate going to Cheadle and Gatley.
