Expansion plans for pub

-

THE owners of the St Dunstan Inn in Langley are hoping plans to expand the business will be approved.

William and Sarah-Kate Cantile, who live above the pub with their kids Ethan and Imogen, have big plans to extend the back of their pub so punters can enjoy the fantastic view.

The couple, who bought the pub four years ago, have applied for planning permission to demolish the existing conservatory and build a two storey extension, which would make the back of the pub more accessible and give them more space upstairs.

Sarah-Kate, who hopes the work could be done by next summer if permission is granted, said: “We’re keeping our fingers crossed all will go smoothly - we’ve not had any objections to it.

“We have a conservatory which is difficult to use because of the size of it and the way it’s set out. If we get rid of that and put something in, that takes that room back to enable us to use it.

“The whole of the back is looking really nice and we’ve got loads of picnic tables.

“We’ve got these fantastic views of Teggs Nose out the back but the weather isn’t always amenable to people sitting outside, so we are hoping to have a back room where you feel like you are outside and can appreciate the views.

“What I really want is a double sided log burner in there so it feels really cosy and really rural.”

Sarah, who juggles her job at the pub with a full-time job at AstraZeneca, added that the extra room would also mean that they can re-open the kitchen and begin serving food.

She said: “Serving food is an area we would really like to look into.

“At the moment we have sport on and that’s not always what people want when they come for Sunday dinner, so we would have the quieter back section where you can get away from it.”

She added: “The views are amazing here and we want to make it easier for people to enjoy.”

The pair’s plans also include installing bike racks for visitors.

Sarah added: “Macclesfield is really popular with cyclists so we want to make it more cycle friendly. People can come and have a drink and have somewhere to leave their bike safely.”
