A cash coup for play park revamp
A PLAY park is to get a revamp thanks to the intervention of a councillor.
Residents raised the issue of the state of the toddler’s play park on Brynmore Drive to councillor Mick Warren.
Now after discussion with officers at Cheshire East Council he has been given the green light for some funding to improve the facilities.
Coun Warren discovered that the park was built by housing developer Woolwich Homes when the estate was built.
The developer also handed over £12,000 to the then-Macclesfield borough council for repairs to the equipment. But that money was banked and was later transferred to Cheshire East Council when it formed in 2009.
Now after some digging coun Warren has uncovered the funds and got them released.
Coun Warren said: “It was brought to my attention by residents some months ago, that the toddlers play park on Brynmore Drive was looking tired and in urgent need of a face lift.
“After many meetings and many emails, I have managed to secure some funding to enable the improvements to be carried out.
“£12,000 isn’t a great deal of money, but when it is pooled with other finances at the council it means we can get a better deal on what equipment is bought.
“I’m happy with the result.”
The revamp is now on ANSA’s schedule of works planned in the future.
