College boss joins board to boost business links
THE principal of Macclesfield College has joined the board of the Chamber of Commerce.
Rachel Kay, who became principal and chief executive the college last year, is keen on engaging with the business community and promoting the college’s apprenticeship programmes.
She also helped the college achieve a Silver Award in the North East Cheshire Business Awards 2015 in the ‘Best Company to Work For’ category as well as reaching the final of Education Investor Awards 2016.
Rachel’s new role on the board of Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce will see her advise local organisations on education, working closely with employers to optimise opportunities for skills in work and Apprenticeships.
Nigel Schofield, chairman of Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce, said: “Rachel has a proven track record in both education and business sectors and we are delighted to welcome her on to the board. The business community will benefit from engaging closely with Rachel, whose commitment will be vital in ensuring that local employers have access to skilled and talented individuals over the coming years.”
Rachel said: “We have been a member of the Chamber for some time and I was honoured to be invited to join the board. My new role will guarantee that our college remains at the centre of the local community and will be the catalyst for expanding my knowledge of the business landscape in Macclesfield and Cheshire East.”
